Meet Anushka Mulchandani, the founder of Pocket Stylist. Over the years, she has been a fashion influencer and content creator. Known for her work with StyleCracker, Anushka has a passion for all things fashion and is also regarded as one of the most versatile influencers in the city.
Here, she talks about her journey as an influencer, her inspiration, and her weakness for food.
1. When and how did you start your styling journey?
“I’m not exactly a stylist – Pocket Stylist started as a hobby when I was bored at my job one day. I’m currently freelancing as a social media manager. I also create content for Pocket Stylist along with a handful of brands I manage.”
2. Tell us a little bit more about your journey – highlights, lowlights, anything else of significance.
“I studied commerce but got my first internship at Seventeen magazine when I was just 18 years old. After that, there was no going back. I knew I wanted to do something in fashion and a slew of jobs came after Seventeen. I’ve worked everywhere from Vogue to MissMalini Entertainment, Hauterfly, Jossbox and StyleCracker. In fact, I still work very closely with the latter. It’s these jobs and internships that gave me the skills I have today to put together an outfit and know exactly what will and will not suit my body.”
3. Any advice you’d like to give budding female stylists?
“You can’t just wake up one day and decide you want to start a blog or style people. Start from the bottom, learn the ropes with people who are established in the field, build up your contacts and then go forth and conquer!”
4. What’s next on your plate?
“I’m currently working with my best friend to create a capsule collection of something I can’t quite disclose just yet. It’s coming soon, though!”
5. What inspires you?
“My peers. I see so many wonderful women creating such great content every day.”
6. Do you use Scootsy? Any favourite dishes you order often on Scootsy?
“Yes, definitely! I have a major sweet tooth, so when I’m not ordering a meal, I’m constantly ordering Bavarian Chocolate ice cream from Baskin Robbins, cookies from Oh Dough, or a vanilla yoghurt from YogurtBay. I love that Nara is now on Scootsy and the bread from Qualia is just outstanding!”
