Holi Fashion 101: What to Wear this Festival of Colours

Look your stylish best this festival of colours! There are tips for Holi fashion for both men and women, look inside now!

(Last Updated On: March 20, 2019)

Holi is just round the corner and so is the need to dress up right for the festival. Unlike other Indian festivals, Holi fashion is a little different – there’s no way you can wear the outfits you wear for other Indian festivals here. With the all-round messiness that comes with colours and water, you need to wear something simple and inexpensive, yet stylish. Sounds difficult? It isn’t, really!

Here are some fashion hacks for what you can wear this Holi.

  1. Cotton Kurtas & Shirts

There’s no better fabric than cotton to wear for Holi! For both men and women, cotton is great to go out and play with water and colours, yet feel comfortable. Women can style a white kurta with a printed dupatta for a trendy look, while men can go with a white shirt or kurta with cotton pants.

  1. Caps & bandanas

Protect your hair from damage, yet look stylish by wearing some cool headgear this Holi.  Throw on a stylish cap or a printed bandana to complete the Holi look.

  1. Sunglasses

The harsh sun can be very piercing and cause damage to your eyes – so why not protect your peepers and look glam while you’re at it by putting on a pair of sunglasses? Go for your most hardy pair – you don’t want to break or damage them in the mad scramble that is a Holi party.

  1. Flip-flops

The colours, water, and running around can all damage your pretty feet as well as your shoes. So, wear your trusty flip-flops to minimise the damage. Not only are they comfortable enough to walk around in all day, but you’ll feel less guilty throwing them away after a harsh bout of colour throwing. Besides, what better footwear to complement any outfit than a pair of cool flip-flops?

  1. Denim shorts

For those who don’t want to go the traditional route, the next best option is a pair of sleek denim shorts. Flaunt your legs and be comfortable in the sun with your shorts. Pair them with a simple white tee, bandanna, and flip-flops to complete your Holi look.
